Prefolder for Web Presses

PREFOLDER

INNOTECH PREFOLDER used in conjunction with the press folder will greatly enhance the folded product capabilities of any web press. Commercial and publication printers can now gain a competitive edge by producing prefolded products efficiently at today' high press speeds.

The Prefolder combines an angle bar arrangement with INNOFORMER™ Folding assemblies to convert the web prior to entering the press folder. The web can be reoriented or slit into two ribbons and shifted, or prefolded to expand the range of finished products which can be produced. The prefolder is usually mounted overhead to keep web leads to a minimum and to interface easily with the press.

All Innotech Prefolders use INNOFORMER™ geometric air bar plow. (see box). This user friendly mechanism enables folding the web at today's high speeds with minimal make-ready time.

PREFOLDER FOR COMBINATION FOLDER enables producing 12p square or 16 page oblong signatures as well as Slim-Jim signatures. Two webs will double the page count.

PREFOLDER FOR DOUBLE FORMER FOLDER enables producing 6 page single gatefolded or 8 page double gatefolded signatures. A two station Prefolder enables production of rollover gatefolds as well as double gates with opposite gatelegs.

Prefolders are custom configured for the application and include some or all of below:

An infeed roller

A full web compensator for cut-to-print register corrections

An angle bar deck to shift the incoming web so that the outgoing folded web is positioned in line with the former board of the press folder.

Additional capability to slit a web in two ribbons and fold one of the ribbons and deliver the two ribbons, compensated for print-to-cut-register, in line with the former board of the press folder.
